Let’s have a tea party...

Updated: Sep 7, 2020

Looking back to those level 5 lockdown days in South Africa...Wow it feels like years ago.

Back in the full lockdown life was bleak. Stuck to being indoors all day I wanted to be creative and have my own personal tea party. Inspired by such sweet treats and our beautiful tea sets I decided to do a set up and take some pics.

I was having an Alice in Wonderland moment. Escaping to a land of sweet treats and non stop tea. It was such a wonderful distraction from the crazy world I was living in.

Now a great tea party deserves amazing sweet treats right? You know how lucky I was? I was given this amazing set of cupcakes from a very talented friend and baker.

What a shock when he delivered them. So many cupcakes and such beautiful colours. I was in sweet awe and ready to make these look like they belonged in a magazine.

The light ones which were Candy Floss flavour were too incredible. I couldn't resist a taste and ate a whole cupcake before shooting. I did feel guilty but I saw it as research and inspiration. I needed the full experience lol....

I was transported to a land of clouds something out of the Katy Perry Teenage dream video. Yes I was now ready. I started by shooting the cupcakes plain capturing the subtle candy floss colours. Using a few props here and there helped. Trying lots of different combinations and just playing around. Getting out all my photography creativity.

Then I decided it needed a pop of colour. My mom had bought some fresh raspberries probably knowing I would need them. After eating a few of those I popped them on the cupcakes.

Boom now the images looked so different. I felt by adding the raspberries it really created this eye catching scene. My party for one had truly started.

As a new content creator myself. You have no idea how these simple tasks make such a difference to us.

A big part of what I want to achieve with Nosh is to feature the new and upcoming talent.

Kyle is a dear friend of mine. Someone who I have known for many a year. My interaction with him regarding this was so professional and such a pleasure. Featuring his delicious baked goodies was such an honour. In the short time he has been doing this business he has grown. I am immensely proud of him. He deserves all the success and I know he will only continue to grow.
