How it all began?

Hi there (waves enthusiastically)

Welcome to the very first Blog post for Nosh by Nadia.

Wow I never thought I would have got to this point in this time. The old me was very good at starting things. Especially with fitness. I would be all excited and start working out everyday. By the second week I would already be over it and back to laying bed eating all the yummy food and binge watching whichever tv show I was obsessed with.

2020 was going to be my year!

I think many people had that mentality that a new decade a new me. I mean most people have that idea every new year. Boy what a year we were given. I don't think anyone saw this coming?

Corona virus or COVID 19...

Who would have thought our worlds would be like this?

In South Africa we went into a seriously strict lockdown pretty quickly. Our level 5 stage meant we couldn't even go for a walk around the block? That time really effected me and gave me a lot of time to think about things.

I mean of course I used some of that time to chill I def got through a lot of shows. I wanted more though. I worked on my fitness goals especially walking and running. Once we could I aimed to walk everyday. That was a great way to escape not only my home which I was spending so much time in. But also to return to the beauty of nature that I had missed.

I wanted to learn and grow and build knowledge in something I was passionate about. I completed an Instagram course. My entertaining Insta guru taught me a thing or two not only about Insta but also about finding my niche.

I really struggled with that. Niching down as they say is something I just can't do. I can't just focus on one thing. I have so many different passions. I had to find my niche. I had tried things before in the worlds of travel and photography. Brainstorming began and I realised that I have such a passion for food and drink. When looking through my photo archives I realised discovered many a photo of food.

I also realised that restaurants, coffee shops and any food and drink styled business was where I spent most of my time. During these tough times I wanted to find a way to help and discover my local gems.

I realised this when going Cafe 12/12 for coffee and I started the process starting off with an Instagram account. I aimed to post everyday and started to build it up.

I have created a website and even started The Lekker List. First focusing on coffee places that I love around Cape Town.

A few months later here I am blogging. Who knows how will it grow from here?
